Scotch Foursomes Match Play
Scotch Foursomes (sometimes referred to as Greensomes in the USA) is a competition format in which both players drive at each hole, and select the most advantageous tee-shot. The partner then plays this ball, and the players then take alternate shots until the ball is holed. The difference to regular foursomes is that both players on a team tee off.
Closing Date for entries Sunday 11th April
Note: If you do not have a regular partner and would like to be in the competition or for further queries ring Padraig Boyle 0879684316.
Example: Player A and Player B are partners. On the first hole, player A player and B tee off; They decide that playerA's drive is better placed so player B plays the second shot; player A plays the third shot; and so on until the ball is holed. The lower of the two teams' scores win the hole.
The Handicap allowance for Foursomes is half (1/2) of combined current handicap. For example Player A and Player B are playing together as a team against Player C and Player D: Player A has handicap of 18 and Player B has handicap of 15 which is 33 combined. Player C has handicap of 12 and Player D has handicap of 14 which is 26 combined. The combined difference is 7 so ½  the combined is 3.5. Thus player A and B have 4 shots on players C and D. They have an extra shot on holes indexed 1,2,3 and 4
In the unfortunate event of both players either losing their ball from the Tee or going out-of-bounds, the player who teed off first must tee off again. This tee shot would be counted as the teams 3rd shot.
